The Ballet San Jose Summer Intensive provides high quality, pre-professional ballet training featuring the renowned American Ballet Theatre National Training Curriculum. Ballet San Jose School is an ABT Certified School and the official school of Ballet San Jose. The Summer Intensive is a premiere training experience for ballet students ages 11-22. The Summer Intensive can be the first step towards placement in the Trainee Program and Pre-Professional Division. Summer Intensive Students have also been offered Apprentice positions and Corps de Ballet positions with Ballet San Jose following the Summer Intensive.
Learn from our world-class ABT certified faculty
, from Artistic Director José Manuel Carreño, Associate Director Raymond Rodriguez, School Director and Trainee Program Director Dalia Rawson, members of the professional company, and experts in other forms of dance. Notable Special Guest Faculty will include choreographer Amy Seiwert and Pierre-Francois Vilanoba, formerly of SF Ballet and the Paris Opera Ballet.
The Summer Intensive provides a core curriculum of ballet technique, pointe, men's class, and variations, as well as classical and contemporary ballet repertoire, with a full day of classes for students in all levels. Additional classes may include partnering, modern, contemporary, character, strengthening, Pilates, music for dancers, and floor barre, to help students develop versatility in their dancing.
Carreño Male Dancer Training Initiative Scholarships Available
Special scholarship opportunities are available for male dancers, who will be screened by Artistic Director José Manuel Carreño. Male dancers have the opportunity to work with Mr. Carreño and the Ballet San Jose Faculty in men’s technique class, partnering class, variations, and repertoire.
ABT YOUNG DANCER SUMMER WORKSHOP AT BALLET SAN JOSE: June 15-26

The Summer Intensive Showcase, performed for family and friends at an offsite theater, is the culmination of the Ballet San Jose Summer Intensive. Meet friends to last a lifetime. Optional dormitory housing is available, offering a vibrant chaperoned experience with optional weekend excursions and activities.
The opportunity for serious young dancers, ages 9-11, and 12-year olds at the beginning pointe level, to actively flourish in a professional, yet nurturing environment. The outstanding faculty members of ABT will provide unparalleled instruction while remaining sensitive to the developmental needs of young dancers. For more information, please visit the ABT Website
SUMMER SESSIONS: June - August
Weekly or twice weekly classes for students ages 3-11. Continue training over the summer, or try out training at Ballet San Jose School with only a four-week minimum commitment required! Classes take place June 15-June 26 and July 6-August 14. You may choose to attend any or all of the eight weeks of classes offered, with a four-week minimum registration requirement.
Ages 3-4: Tuesdays 9:00-10:00
Ages 5-6: Wednesdays 4:00-5:00
Ages 7-8: Tuesdays 4:00-5:00
$100 tuition for four weeks, 1 class per week. Additional weeks may be added at $25 per week.
Ages 9-11: Mondays and Thursdays 4:00-5:30
$250 tuition for four weeks, two classes per week. Additional weeks may be added at $60 per week.

PERFORMANCE CAMP (AGES 5-10): June 15-19 and August 3-7
